During the last couple of years I have been asked by Durham College and Fleming College Graphic Design students, if I would consider taking them on for their 3rd year internship. I always replied with how flattering it was, but I was not in a position to take that on. However, this time when a particular contact came through, there was something different about the ask. Perhaps it just caught me at the right time and I began to wonder if the universe kept throwing me opportunities and it was time to take a look at it. I decided to reply with, “I am open to discussing this opportunity for both of us.”

Welcome Brianna, a 3rd year Graphic Design student from Durham College. Brianna will be completing a 15 week internship with us, starting January 9th and completing by April 30th. We are so excited to have her creative talent and quick thinking on board. We have been busy organizing many projects for Brianna to take on while she is with us. Her primary goal is to learn about the business side of design. And we feel that we have something to offer on the topic.

Read Brianna’s story here:

Brianna McNevin is a third year student at Durham College in the Graphic Design program. She began learning about graphic design in her 10th grade and has only continued to develop her skills over the last 6 years. Her skillset has evolved and developed into the world of digital art, but Brianna began exploring her love of art in early childhood. Digital art has been her chosen medium since then, and it has been a useful skill in her graphic design education.

She draws her inspiration from a number of places, but mostly from her interests and other various hobbies. She grew up watching franchises like Marvel and Transformers, and remains an avid fan to this day. She has also been an avid reader from a very early age, and finds a lot of her inspiration from this hobby.

Being the oldest of four kids has given her plenty of time to develop her problem solving and communication skills. She plans to utilize these skills, combined with her creative vision, to create and design pieces that are best suited to her clients concepts and needs of their business.
