Why Hire a Registered Graphic Designer? Part Two:
What it Means to Me to be an RGD
Commitment: A commitment to a larger design community who thinks broadly about how what we create meaningfully affects the world, whether to inspire, inform or elevate.
Credibility: The RGD credential is a signifier to my clients that what I offer in terms of design is not just my opinion but is backed by design principles, research, and strategy and therefore I know it will work in supporting their success.
Connection: An ability to connect with clients and figure out a complete path forward for their brand. Design may be just the beginning of my journey with a client. As an RGD, I can connect you with reliable suppliers, services and allied professions, from illustrators and photographers, writers and translators, printers and product manufacturers.
What it Requires From Me
In Design:
A completed RGD Certification Process and a demonstration of my knowledge and abilities in that process as a professional graphic designer.
Staying informed of developments and trends by always adding to my knowledge base: new information on accessibility, consumer trends, demographics, research methods, production processes, advanced digital technologies and efficiencies.
Passion.
Ethically:
To always adhere to best practices and principles and a particular ethical standard, including:
Engaging with clients in professional, contractual agreements and providing my guarantee to clients that they will get what they pay for.
Avoiding conflicts of interest (not taking on major clients within the same industries).
Not editing other designer's work or remaking artwork like it is my original.
Fulfilling my commitments responsibly and working to the best of my ability to match or exceed expected project outcomes.
